In Japan, the Ruckus is called the “Play Pocket Zoomer,” and on Honda’s Japanese site, you can practice wedging crap into the ‘play pocket,’ or better yet, custom-paint what little bodywork there is. Why do I want one of these so badly? Thanks to Racecar Bob for the link!

Stigmata Martyr
The only thing more unintentionally hilarious than a Goth is Jedi Chad posing as a Goth to pick up more clinically depressed chicks.
What rocks us
Shifties Rock Chicago
Scooterist Jeff Tudor’s band The Shifties are playing at the Tippling House (2843 N Halsted, Chicago) Friday night. Here are some $2 off coupons. Openers are Stone City Stragglers, Unique Chique is headlining. The Shifties will also appear at the International Pop Overthrow in June.
What Rocks Us
Mmmm, Doughnuts
Speaking of Big Rye, here’s how he trains for MASS races. It’s a one meg file, but you’ll wait for hot Krispy Kremes, won’t you? The Oscar for best cinematography goes to Steve Olson, MD.
Chicago rocks MASS!
MASS hasn’t posted official results yet, but ‘Squadra Corse 2SBa and other Chicago racers totally dominated the stock class at Blackhawk Farms. Ryan Bastianelli (Moped Hospital) won both races (even beating the Specials racers) on his 70cc Kymco Super 9. 2SB racers Myk Rodriguez (second in both races,) and Matt DeVries (fourth and third, respectively) kicked butt on P-series Vespas and Mike Durso pulled a fourth and a fifth on his Vespa Smallframe. Tim “YoFatTim” Hugh (Moped Hospital) finished fifth in the first race, but DNF’ed the second on his Super 9. We’ll post official Stock results and the Specials results when they become available.
Rooney starts for England (and Owen tries to remember when he was that good.)
Wayne Rooney’s eyes darted around him like a nervous criminal before he took the pitch against Turkey this past Wednesday. He looked stiff and scared. At seventeen, he was among the youngest to ever start for the English National Team and in one day, he proved himself to the world.

Ship yr scoot to Amerivespa
Andiamo Motorscooters is offering a “ship your scoot” service for Amerivespa. For $99 ($149 after May 10), they’ll accept delivery, uncrate and wash/prep your bike, then point you in the direction of Madison, GA (60 miles away). After the rally, they’ll crate it back up and wait for the truck so you can be on your way. Not a bad plan if you’re short on time (and made of money). I hear Ryan Bastianelli will be offering the same service to Galewood 2K3 vistors.
Last but not least
Ladies and Gentlemen, number two-twenty-one, Michael Durso.
2SB race bikes unveiled!
With the first race of the 2003 MASS season starting in 48 hours at Blackhawk Farms, ‘Squadra Corse 2SBa has unveiled its #2 and #3 stock-class Vespa P-series: Myk Rodriguez’ #2 MYKRRRacer and Matt DeVries’ #3 ex-HauSSS. They might not look like much, but they’re wearing low-single-digit number plates, so that’s good for somethin’. Mike Durso will represent the ‘Squadra Corsea on that moped he raced last year.
Vespa: Secret weapon
Ken Wildman sent us this report. It’s clearly a joke, but it seems more realistic than that dolphin story. And that was real.
Dr. Phil on the L.A. scooter scene
John Stafford reads the Globe so you don’t have to. Enjoy!
Spiegel: it’s not just clothes for suburban moms anymore
Grace found this Vino/Joker-esque electric kid’s scooter on Spiegel.com. A mere $250, and it’s probably faster than a real Vino.
ScooterMaker and ModShop
John Manion also sent us these cool links at meshmen.com: design your own custom Vespa or Lambretta with ScooterMaker 1.0, or order your Rob Halford Edition silencer from the ModShop. Check out their Lambretta TV!
