Fom Chad: Unveiled at the Milan show, the Aprilia Leonardo SR 500 DiTech. “…96mpg at 70mph! And it’ll meet the Euro 3 emission law…” Whooooa.
Month: October 2003
Gotham movie
Joe Grant of NYC shot this great Super-8 movie at the Gotham Rally a couple months ago. (it’s on scoot.net, thanks to Cathy for pointing it out!) Joe’s starting a magazine for NYC scooterists, mostly focusing on twist-and-gos, it’s expected to debut in February.
Abe gets hardcore
I missed another hot Waxon Seven show last night. I guess Abe is a corazon negro now. Daaang! Chad: “I feel like a 17-year-old scantily clad girl whenever I see ’em.” They’re playing Kathy’s birthday party on November 1st at Memories (Montrose and Cicero) with another band called “Kathy Anderson’s Little Sister with Bob Barker’s Neutered Cat”. Look out.
Harley Spree
From Jim-Bob: the most hilarious ebay auction since Ryan’s can of corn. “I was told this was a Harley-Davidson scooter. I donit know if this was some unusual manufacturer collaboration, or if some individual just customized this bike.” Heh. At least Jim-Bob and Chrissy could agree on this one.
International Boredom; Lackluster Qualification Sends England’s Supporters Home Still Seething
With great reluctance, England fans celebrated their 0-0 draw with Turkey, marking their automatic qualification into the UEFA Euro 2004 competition. I say reluctant because after losing two Leeds fans to hooligan violence at the hands of Galatasaray’s “Stay Up All Night” gang in 2000, England supporters wished for a more decidedly lethal result, ending a rivalry that has left a bitter taste in the mouths of England’s more passionate fans.

I feel like the mom in Sixteen Candles
While I was wasting my time watching the Cubs lose last night, the Chicago Fire won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, beating the MetroStars 1-0. They’re halfway to another Cup/League double.
Scooter World hits newsstands
2sb received the first issue of Scooter World Magazine over the weekend, and aside from a “So You’re Buying a Scooter” article that contradicts pretty much everything we said in our article, Geoff and his team did a nice job. It appears to be aimed mainly at new scooterists and twist-and-go riders, and features reviews of the Kymco Super9 and the Aprilia Mojito, along with new products, tech advice from Daniel and Jack of Sportique, and even some recipes.
Fire Clinches MLS East
The Chicago Fire beat Columbus 2-0 in their first game back at Soldier Field Friday, clinching their conference and home-field advantage for the playoffs. Their last regular-season game is Saturday the 18th at Soldier Field. What? Is there something else happening in Chicago sports? Oh, right! The Blackhawks won their opener. And good luck to Sue-Ann and Jen in the marathon!
JP Helmets
Patrick from Baron Von Scooter introduced us to JP Helmets the other day. I certainly wouldn’t trust one to protect my head, but they’re very cool-lookingOe if you’re, say, doing a photo shoot or something. They almost make Davidas look safe.
Axle of Evil
Mike George’s Scootergirl, an Antonioni-paced-but-cute flash animation, not to be confused with ScooterGirl or ScootaGrrl
MASS Stock Class, Final Round at Gateway Int’l
by Mike Durso | Well, for all the trash-talking the past few weeks between the top three racers, this weekend’s final round came off like a wet fart. Ryan Bastinelli’s bike locked up with a frozen big end bearing. YoFatTim was plagued by broken throttle cables and various other bugs. Myk Rodriguez had new job conflicts and was a no-show. What happened in stock class?

October events
Don’t forget the Hunnert-Car Pile-Up is this Saturday (with a scooter category and a rideout from Chicago), and the Honda Cub/Los Corazones Negros Pumpkin Run is next Saturday (the 18th) as is the Supersonic Track Day/Party in Columbus.
Susan Bruno in the Washington Post
“I am a superficial boy-crazy bimbo.” The Post has definitely slipped from the Woodward and Bernstein days, they spelled “Rikki Rockett” wrong.
