Bryan’s Tech Tips

by Bryan Noise

Bryan Noise is an editor of 2strokeBuzz and not a professional mechanic. There are currently more defunct scooters in his garage than El Caminos on blocks in all of West Virginia.

Keeping your scooter runing and looking great is easy! Follow these simple steps.

1. Painting your scooter

  1. Disassemble scooter. Label everything carefully
  2. Halfheartedly sand body here and there
  3. Leave in garage for several years

2. Finding electical faults

  1. Buy cheap analog multimeter
  2. Lose instructions
  3. See Ryan's fancy digital multimeter, lose interest.
  4. Ride only during daylight hours

3. Setting contact breaker points

  1. Buy feeler gauges
  2. Randomly unscrew screws on stator plate
  3. Get more exercise

4. Removing a Vespa flywheel

  1. Remove circlip
  2. Replace circlip
  3. Ask Moe to come over and remove your flywheel

5. Preparing your scooter for the winter

  1. Ride into garage
  2. Press kill switch
  3. Go inside and have some hot chocolate

6. Rebuilding engine

  1. Remove engine from scooter
  2. Place on milk crate
  3. See 1(c)
