German Miroslav Klose scored early in the game and the Germans played the boring extra-strength defensive game. Both sides had a few good chances but physics, Given, and Kahn put a stop to each shot. I left to catch my train at the 90 minute mark knowing that Germany clinched the first berth to the second round. And missed Robbie Keane’s last-second equalizer. Damn. Germany 1, Rep. of Ireland 1, Metra West Line 0. Group E is still wide open. And props to Christian Ziege for having stupider hair than Dave Beckham.
