The Scooter Scoop reports the 2009 Yamaha T-Max 500 will come to the U.S. Great news, if it’s true, the T-Max is a great bike by all accounts. Perhaps this development will finally convince Honda to bring us the Euro-market leader SH300i.

Well, well. That’s exciting news. I wonder if dudel has any idea what the T-Max will cost here in the States?
The Morphous costs ¥661,500 (US$6396) in Japan and $5299 here, so by that math, the T-Max (¥850,500, US $8188) would cost $6813. More than the Majesty and the Morphous, but a good deal less than a SilverWing.
It’s surprising their US prices are so much lower than their domestic prices, especially since the dollar is so weak right now. Did I do my math right?
Who knows what the dollar/yen exchange rate will be by the time the T-Max gets here? If Yamaha can keep the price reasonable, though, they may tap into pent-up demand for a high-performance USA coot. Definitely interesting news. I still don’t expect to ever see the SH300i. According to dudel, that scoot is made in Italy, and with the ever-declining dollar vs the euro, I don’t think it would ever make sense for Honda to import it here. I wish it weren’t so…
