Blackout!

I wonder how many BladeZ electric scooters Pride of Cleveland Scooters sold at 5:00 yesterday? 2sb Correspondent Mike Durso was in NYC last night and sent us this gripping photo from ground zero. Anyone have any scooter-related blackout stories?

TNG Milano

Speaking of Lucash, he’s been working on a story about how Yamaha ripped off the idea for the Vino from TN’G. Good luck with that, Dave, but TN’G’s Milano 125 beat the Yamaha Vino 125 to market by months, so explain that!

Honda Element report

POC Phil finally answered the age-old question: Yes. A scooter will fit in a Honda Element. “We took the mirrors off a Bajaj and it went in quite easily after tilting
it just a little bit to accommodate the headset.
The Chetak is a solid 2″ taller than the average P2Oe I would say we could have put a smallframe in there next to it with no
rear seats installed and still closed the hatch properly. The multiple
tie-down points and rubber floor are a huge bonus.” So there you go. Thanks, Phil!

RIP Herb Brooks

When I was a kid, I hated all sports but hockey. No sports event was a bigger deal to me than the 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey team. Mike Eruzione and Jim Craig replaced C3P0 and R2D2 as #1 subject matter for my crayon drawings. Now I’m a graphic designer for the Blackhawks, and I thank Herb Brooks for setting me on the right career path.

Smokin’ Saturday Photos

Chad took some photos Saturday. Man am I fat. The VBB started great and ran great, so props to ScootRS and Durso. Cigars and Stripes is cool, it’s a cigar store with a bar in back and a big parking area off the street, a good destination for group rides, hint hint.

Vespa, Trojan can’t get it on.

From AdAge: According to PiaggioUSA’s advertising agency, the DePlano Group, new PiaggioUSA CEO Constantino Sambuy pulled the plug on a Vespa/Trojan Spring Break cross-promotion. The story features links to two posters (poster 1) (poster 2) from the proposed campaign. In 2SB’s opinion, it was a pretty funny campaign, but apparently it doesn’t fit in Piaggio’s master plan, whatever that is. Perhaps they were worried people would find out that Vespas are available in the United States. A 2SB source alleges that Piaggio insisted in a memo to dealers that the campaign was never approved in the first place, and expressed anger that the creative materials were leaked by DePlano. The AdAge story also reveals that Scottsdale, AZ engineer Paolo Vianson, a descendant of the Piaggio family, is organizing a $109 million effort to buy a 20% stake in Piaggio.
