After a year of supply and import problems, PeugeotUSA hopefully has its act together. Andiamo! Motorscooters reports that 200 new Peugeot scooters are due to arrive on Dec. 19th, including the new Elystar and Looxor, both available in 50 and 150 cc models. I think I have a secret crush on the Speedfight2. I feel dirty.
Chmiel, schlimazel, hasenpfeffer, incorporated.
Speaking of scooter art, I finally met Scooterworks/Genuine graphic designer P.J. Chmiel at the Scooterworks open house. What a nice guy, and a kick-ass designer. Check out his weblog.
Reid Studio
Glenn Reid’s posters are great gifts for scooterists. Vina has this one over her desk, reminding her how much fun she could be having if she wasn’t at work.
$47 for Underpants?!
Ah, yes. But they’re Vespa kitty underpants! Just in time for the holidays.
$54 for Underpants?!
Ah, yes, but they’re vespa underpants!”
Quote of the Week
David Lucash: “Are their keys to a new ET4 inside this bag?”
Thampagne Thupernova
More hilarious dirt from the Sun. Liam’s proof that rock stardom can lift the velvet rope to exclusive establishments previously opened only to the likes of Jedi Chad. And the quote from the guy in the house band is a classic. Thanks Sean.
Another Stella Update
Colin Shattuck of Genuine Scooter Company posted some new info on the boards today:
- The Stella arrival date has been pushed back to early January.
- The first dealers signed are: Sportique, Garners, Scooterworks USA, Moto Strada, and Scooters Centrale. They are all accepting deposits. Stella is focusing on scooter-specific dealers, but may sell through motorcycle shops in locations without scooter dealers.
- Stella is featured in the new Playboy. (“Finally, a reason to pick up a Playboy!” says Colin, heh.)
- Brochures are available by emailing Colin.
- Genuine plans to sponsor the International Scooterist BBS. I should start selling ads, too, with all this free PR I’m giving them, heh.
Jude Law’s Vespa
The 1958 Vespa ridden by Jude Law in “the Talented Mr. Ripley” is up for sale on ebay. Didn’t Matt Damon smash it into a cafe table, or was that a different scooter? Thanks for the tip, Elvis.
Liam Gallagher’s ass kicked.
“It’s about f**king time,” says Supergome. We concur. Just because a band poses on scooters doesn’t mean you have to like them. At all.
Scooterworks Open House
ScooterworksUSA’s winter open house is this Saturday (Dec. 7) from 11am-5pm. Their site says nothing, but I remember reading somewhere they’ll have some prizes for scooters ridden to the shop. With all this snow, there shouldn’t be much competition.
I’m cooler than MRR
I got mentioned on slatch.com today, and there’s no denying that’s cooler than Maximum Rock ‘n’ Roll. If you check one weblog every day, check Slatch. I (heart) Slatch.
We were in Maximum Rock’n’Roll
And I didn’t even know it! Mark Hanford mentioned us in his August 2002 Netpunk Column. Now there’s something I never thought would happen. I think I’m going to cry. Is it still cool to be mentioned in MRR?
Be thankful!
Supergome has confirmed that thanks to Vespa USA, you will no longer need to sew patches on your jacket. I remember joking about this five years ago, and now the joke has become reality. Have a good long weekend, I’m outta here.
Scootergirl cards and posters
Rock N’ Rosie Originals is offering Holiday cards and posters featuring scooter pin-up girls. They’re cute, if you’re into girls. Their sister company, Bam Bam Buttons, makes custom 1″ buttons, if you are in need of such buttons.
