Criterion is releasing a deluxe 2-DVD set of The Royal Tenenbaums on June 9th. If you don’t love Wes Anderson, your store could use some fixin’. In the meantime, here’s the best desktop background ever.

Ok, it’s quite cool looking, but someone needs to bone up on their scooter history, Mods didn’t invent scooters, they just turned them into a fashion accessory for spoilt teenagers. Oh, wait, maybe he is right.

I’m reading Stoned by Andrew Loog Oldham, the Rolling Stones’ manager who coined one of my favorite phrases “there’s no such thing as bad publicity.” It’s a good read so far, and I’m not even to the Stones part yet. All you Mod types might dig it.

There are so many TV ads lately with gratuitous Vespa usage, they’re not even worth mentioning. But the new Wrigley’s Orbit Gum ad is the best yet, in which Vanessa and her associate from the Orbit Institute chase a Harley guy on their white sidecar Vespa. Very cute. Can’t find it online, though.

2SB’s favorite football club, Arsenal won the English league cup “double,” beating London rivals Chelsea 2-0 on Saturday in the FA Cup final, and topping the despised and nearly-invincible Manchester United 1-0 last night to clinch the Premiership title. 2SB is very, very happy today, even though Vina is a closet Chelsea fan. Here’s a story about Freeze your Balls Off from The Independent. Chris 32 claims to be embarrassed, but if you ask me, it’s one of the better mass-media scooter stories ever, there’s actual research involved, and some great quotes.

Admit it, they’re better than The Rolling Stones, The Who, and The Beatles combined.

Another link I can’t believe I’ve never come across, Lloydy’s Lambrettas. it’s like the Lambretta version of scooterhelp. I don’t know enough about Lammies to say whether Lloyd’s advice is good or not, but it looks helpful and it’s well-illustrated.

Niall’s smallframe site, already a great resource, has added links to download his font “Primavera,” based on the ’70s Vespa logo. Nice work, Niall, and thanks for the Mac version!
