Rupees continue to fall like rain on Italy this month as Piaggio announced their plans for a Rs 1,000-cr turnover in India by 2005, mainly on the heels of their Quadracycle and other cargo vehicles. “Rs 1,000-cr” means “One thousand Crore Rupees,” or “1,000 10-million rupees,” which I think works out to ten billion rupees, or something like US$221 millon, if my math is right. Could they make that a little more confusing? Meanwhile, Italjet has licensed seven models to Kinetic to be produced in India. Italjet will cease domestic production of the models and Kinetic will manufacture, distribute and market them worldwide, using Italjet’s current distributors. All engines will be manufactured by Kinetic, unlike the Italian versions which used Piaggio and other outsourced motors.

A couple weeks ago, Brian at nh-scooters interviewed Phil McCaleb of Scooterworks and Genuine Scooter Co. (Stella). Now I have to find someone in New Hampshire to interview to show him up.
Bocanegra signs with Fulham
2sb’s favorite MLS player, defender Carlos Bocanegra, is leaving the Chicago Fire for a three-year deal with Fulham FC in the English Premier League. He’ll be greatly missed by the Fire, but it’s an awesome opportunity and we know he’ll be the greatest Cottager since George Michael.
We’re back
Thanks for your patience while we spent some quality bonding time with our wee bairn. I’m finally back to work and I’ll get back to posting regularly now. Things are still pretty Milenacentric around here, but I’ll try to keep up.
More Milena photos
finally, here are more Milena photos. More to come. And I’ll actually post some scooter junk again, someday.
MILENA KATHERINE BEDELL

Baby update
I’m home to pick up the iPod speakers and some Jolly Ranchers… it was a rough night, Tracie’s on an epidural now and we’re expecting delivery this evening or early Wednesday. Everything’s going OK. I’ll try to make some more calls when I get back. Thanks for the support, it’s all pretty exciting.
INDUCTION
It’s go-time. Please don’t call us yet, it’ll still be a day or so. More info to come.
Konfabulator!
If you’re as behind as I am, you’re not using a newsreader to read 2sb. Mike Karr turned me onto Konfabulator, a utility for Mac OSX that features “widgets” for various tasks. The Kontent widget’s working great with 2SB news (use this link for the 2SB feed). Also very cool for those of us dorks that load album art into iTunes: the iTunes Companion.
CWC Update
Ryetronics’ Cold Weather Challenge has been underway for a few weeks, and Duane Hillebrand of Chicago is in the lead with a 10°/15 mile ride on his 2003 Stella. It’s getting colder, get out there, 2SB readers, and beat that!
Chad’s party
Cha-Cha‘s Los Corazones Negros Christmas party is tonight (Friday) at 3140 W. Lyndale, at 9pm. Waxon Seven is still playing as far as I know, though maybe without drums… it should be a hoot for those of you that aren’t having a baby this weekend.
Chicago Jedi Xmas
The chicago JKSC annual Christmas party is at Club Foot this Sunday(the 21st): $2 domestics. All are welcome. Club Foot is at 1824 W Augusta.
Congrats, Brooke!
Oh, and as long as we’re congratulating people, cheers to 2SB reader Dr. Brooke “Your Mom” Gordon George Kelley, who passed his dissertation yesterday to become a PhD in Pharmacology. He’ll be that much more fun at parties now. His mom, Beth, must be very proud.
