The Cycle World International Motorcycle Show comes to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont this weekend. POC Phil reported a huge turnout at the Cleveland Show last weekend, with the usual suspect scooter manufacturers present, plus a Benelli Car-Bike Hybrid. Rumor has it the Stella will be there, and who knows, Piaggio might even show up. Watch this space Saturday morning for our report.

Meter? I barely know her!
Just noticed in the new Craftsman Club catalog that Craftsman’s #82139 Multimeter is on sale for $21.99 (or $19.79 if you’re in the Craftsman club). If you’ve been looking for a good multimeter for the garage and home, this one can’t be beat, especially for the price, and it comes with a good instruction book.
Tim Kerr Soul Night Sunday
Sorry about the late notice, but Christian just sent word that Tim Kerr, guitarist for The
Big Boys, Poison 13, Bad Mutha Goose, Jack O’Fire, Lord High Fixers,
Total Direct Sound Action Commitee, etc. is in town and throwing one of his famous soul dance parties at Delilah’s (2771 N. Lincoln) this Sunday (2/23). Awesome, we’ve been looking forward to this for months!
Cost Plus Toy Scooters
Grace found these 8″ long toy scooters at Cost Plus World Market. They’re $13 and come in red, blue, or purple. She guesses they’re made by children or prisoners, but darn, they’re cute.
Derbi Atlantis Giveaway
This just in: Supersonic Scooters is giving away a brand-new Derbi Atlantis scooter at the WKRP in Cincinnati Rally. It’s awesome how many scooters are being given away at rallies, I’m going to have to give away a moped or something at Galewood to get anyone to come.
Vegas Photos
There are already Vegas Pictures up at scoot.net. Dana’s taking a laptop and a card reader so people can upload on-site. This is going to be something else.
Bishop Allen at Schubas
Bishop Allen’s Support The Thunder Tour rolls through Schubas on Saturday, they’ve shown up on several ballots in
our music poll. I really regret missing them in that tiny venue last time, but I can’t go this time either, someone let me know how they are live. If nothing else, check out their free downloads. And VOTE in the 2sb music poll, you don’t need to fill out ALL the blanks! The deadline is this weekend!
DUCATI SPORTCLASSICS
After “response that has been nothing short of incredible,” Ducati has decided to go ahead with production of three retro-inspired concept motorcyles unveiled at the Tokyo Motorshow. They’re beautiful, but don’t get too excited, The Big D is hedging their bets with a five-digit deposit and a two-year waiting list. Perhaps this “collect the cash before building the factory” approach will inspire Piaggio to re-issue a modernized Vespa GS. Thanks to Matthew for the link.
Armored Flight Jacket
For all you safety-minded skinheads, ICON makes a flight jacket with armor pads. My homemade armored parka should be ready by Niagara. ICON has some other good stuff, too, check it out, wha-hey.
Phil Spector charged
In the “not really that big a surprise” department, Phil Spector allegedly used that gun he’s been so fond of waving around, and has been charged with murder. I’d woulda loved to have seen him and Martin Hannett go at it, mano a mano.
Tax Discs revisited
Two years ago, I posted a link for reproduction tax discs. That company seems to be gone, but Colin from Earlswood Reproductions sent a link today, his company makes officially authorized, historically accurate repro British tax discs. If they’re good enough for Her Majesty, they’re good enough for your mod bike.
The Ponys’ album due soon
The Chicago Reader featured a flattering column last week about The Ponys, a new band featuring Chicago scooterist Ian Adams, formerly of Happy Supply. They’ve already released a few singles and their album, Loaded with Romance is due out in March on In the Red. (Pre-order “Loaded With Romance” from Amazon.)

Joel Martin interview
Scoot Free Or Die ran this interview with Joel Martin of Malaguti, USA. Actually while 2SB has been loading up on bullshit for two weeks, they’ve been packing their content-hole with honest-to-God scooter news. You should probably bookmark them right now. Their slogan should be “what 2SB would look like if Bryan didn’t drink.”
